Preston Fassel is an award-winning author, journalist, biographer, and screenwriter. A Houston native, he graduated summa cum laude from Lone Star College- Montgomery in 2009 with a degree in liberal arts and cum laude from Sam Houston State University in 2011 with a BS in psychology. His debut novel, Our Lady of the Inferno, won the 2019 Independent Publishers’ Gold Medal for Horror. His biography of film scholar Bill Landis, Landis: The Story of a Real Man on 42nd Street, and his novel Beasts of 42nd Street, were each finalists for the Rondo Hatton Award for Book of the Year. Known for his complex psychological portraits of characters on the fringes of society and his exploration of the impact film has on individuals and culture, his work combines elements of literary fiction, crime novels, and horror. A staff writer for Fangoria magazine from 2017-2020, he currently serves as a columnist for Dread Central. He lives in Dallas, where he is a member of Temple Emanu-El and active in Dallas Jewish life.
