Bartholomew Chizoba Akpah (pen name, Barth Akpah) is the Chair of, the Department of Languages and Literature, at William V. S Tubman University, Liberia. He is a poet-scholar, a fellow of the Ife Institute of Advanced Studies, and one of the awardees of the 2022 Library of Africa and the African Diaspora West African Writers Award. He is the author of Land of Tales and How Does the Rain Sound? published in 2019 and 2023 respectively. He has taught English and Literature courses at some Universities in Nigeria including the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he had his university education. Also, he taught creative writing skills to selected audiences in Liberia, Nigeria, and Ghana. The title of His Ph.D. thesis is “Protest and Empowerment in Contemporary Nigerian Women’s Poetry”. Besides his book publications, his journal articles have been published in reputable journals within and outside Africa, including the European Journal of Humour Research Studies and the Ife Journal of Language and Literature. Similarly, his poems have appeared in reputable literary magazines and publishers including the University of Nebraska Press. Barth Akpah is a member editorial board of the Ebonyi Journal of English and Literary Studies. He has also helped to review articles for several journals within and outside Africa. Barth is also a member of professional bodies such as the Society of Young Nigerian Writers, the Literary Society of Nigeria, the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), and the Socrates Scholars International Research Network (SSIRN). He has attended and presented papers in national and international workshops and conferences. His poetry collections, Land of Tales and How Does the Rain Sound? are on the reading list of several academic institutions in Africa and have also received critical reviews by literary critics.
