Texas Authors Institute of History

A Unique Museum that saves history, inspires the future, depth and gives to the present..

Ellen Leventhal is an educator and writer in Houston, TX. Her children’s books usually contain universal themes to which children can relate--even if the thoughts occasionally come from talking cows.

She can’t remember a time when she wasn’t writing in some capacity. After teaching and writing with her students for many years, Ellen’s dream of writing a children’s book became a reality when a picture book, co-authored with Ellen Rothberg, was published. Other books, poems, and short stories followed.

Still teaching part time, Ellen loves school visits! When visiting schools, she coordinates with and supports literacy programs as well as diversity and anti-bullying programs. Ellen’s best days are when she can interact directly with the students and spread her love of literacy and kindness.

With education in her blood, Ellen believes we should never stop learning and honing our craft. Aside from teaching writing, Ellen is active in many online learning groups and takes writing classes herself.
