Marieta Hutchison grew up in Kyle, Texas. She now lives nine miles down the road in San Marcos – home of Spring Lake, one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in North America. She is a retired teacher who enjoys telling stories to all who will listen, or to a captive audience like her grandchildreBorn in the Chicago suburbs, Mark W. Stoub, like his protagonist, Angus McPherson, has been a Texas transplant for over twenty years. He received his B.A. from Maryville College in Tennessee, an M.Div. from Louisville Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Seminary in Chicago. A Presbyterian minister for over forty years, he is now retired and lives in Kyle, Texas on the edge of the idyllic Texas Hill Country with his wife Jane and their dog, Goldie, and cat, Calvin.

Dr. Stoub won an Angell Award, given to best emerging writers, from the Presbyterian Writers Guild in 2012 for his first novel, Blood Under the Altar, and is an award-winning columnist in the Texas Press Association's column writing contest, 2017.
