P. G. Shriver was born in California, raised in Minnesota and currently lives on a small Foundation Quarter Horse farm in Texas.

Shriver has been writing since the age of seven when she entered and won a poetry contest sponsored by a local newspaper. She has written 13 books for children and young adults, including her Texas Festivals picture book series. Shriver has a master's degree in Education from the University of Texas at Arlington and currently teaches composition and literature at Texas State Technical College Waco. Shriver also spent eight of her 19 years in education teaching fourth through eighth grade language arts at two Texas public schools. Writing has always been her greatest passion. Shriver loves to travel, meet new people, discuss books, and allow the world to spark her imagination.
