Brian studied Mexican-American history at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. In 1991, he published with the Texas State Historical Association in the Handbook of Texas and presented his paper, “Leaving Friends, Family, and Property During the Mexican Revolution,” at the First Annual Mexican-Americans in Texas History Conference at the Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio.
