"Award-winning author and historian Brian Kryszewski de Ybarrondo brings together deep historical research and immersive storytelling to explore 19th-century Mexican history, political figures, and family legacy. A descendant of General Ignacio Mejía, he draws from personal lineage and archival depth in his acclaimed La Patria es Primero series. Brian studied Mexican-American history at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. In 1991, he published with the Texas State Historical Association in the Handbook of Texas and presented his paper, “Leaving Friends, Family, and Property During the Mexican Revolution,” at the First Annual Mexican-Americans in Texas History Conference at the Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio.

Through La Patria es Primero, Brian continues his mission to preserve and illuminate Mexico’s fight for sovereignty—one book at a time.
