John Richard Ballew is the grandson of Jefferson Raymond Ballew. He is a retired Texas History Teacher with 25 years in the trenches doing battle of ignorance. He says he has read every book written on the history of Texas and now his life desire is to find all the history not written.

He has spent six years researching Memphis and Hall County, Texas History. His Facebook Group The Memphis on TNE Red, has over 250,000 entries with over two million likes about the Heart of the Upper Red River Valley. Raymond Ballew was framed, gets rich on his way to prison, and is pardoned by the Governor of Texas during the Depression. Get ready to poke the bear with the biggest bootlegger in the history of Texas.

John R. Ballew taught history for twenty-five years in the trenches of the Texas public school system. He is a triple master: M. S. From TAMUCC, a master plumber from Texas, and a Master Mason. He and his wife Dedria have been a couple since they were eleven and live in Texas near six grandchildren. John writes, does research, and maintains a Facebook group The Memphis on TNE Red with over 100,000 photos and stories about Memphis, Texas.
