Monica Sakura Urso is a writer, storyteller, and creative visionary dedicated to honoring true stories that inspire, heal, and illuminate the human experience. Her debut memoir, Can You Open My Eyes?, co-authored with the late Qusay Salih Hussein Al-Mamari, chronicles Qusay's extraordinary journey from surviving a suicide bombing in Iraq that left him blind to pursuing his dreams in the United States. Monica is currently completing the second and final installment of Qusay's story, which follows his path through higher education, personal triumphs, and the legacy he left behind. Through her writing, she explores themes of resilience, self-discovery, grief, hope, and the profound connections that shape our lives. In addition to memoir, Monica writes fiction, short stories, and musical theatre. Her work is rooted in the belief that stories have the power to foster understanding and inspire courage in others.
