Blue Cubicle Press is an independent publisher based in Texas. We publish three award-winning, internationally recognized literary journals, The First LineThe Last Line, and Workers Write!, chapbooks in our Overtime series, and books we enjoy reading. For twenty-five years, we’ve given voice to writers who realize their words may never pay the bills but who are too stubborn to stop trying.

The First Line and The Last Line

The purpose of The First Line and The Last Line is to jump-start the imagination – to help writers break through the block that is the blank page. Each issue contains short stories and poems that stem from or end with a common line. The First Line and The Last Line are exercises in creativity for writers and a chance for readers to see how many different directions we can take when we start from – or end at – the same place.

Workers Write! and Overtime

In 2005, we published Tales from the Cubicle, a collection of stories and poems from the office worker's point of view. Each year since, we've published works about various occupations. Overtime, a series of one-story chapbooks, was created to showcase longer workplace tales. Workers Write! and Overtime have become important voices in working-class literature. We are collecting the stories and poems about jobs that define who we are as individuals and communities.
