Leonard Ravenhill (1907–1990), born in Leeds, England, was a passionate evangelist and scholar of church history, especially Christian revival. Educated at Cliff College under Samuel Chadwick, his wartime evangelistic meetings drew large crowds, inspiring many to dedicate their lives to ministry and missions. After marrying Irish nurse Martha in 1939 and fathering three sons, Ravenhill moved to the United States in 1950, where he conducted tent revivals across the country throughout the 1960s. Settling in Garden Valley, Texas, in 1978, he mentored figures like Keith Green and taught at Last Days Ministries and Bethany College of Missions. A close friend of A.W. Tozer and influential to leaders such as Charles Stanley and Paul Washer, Ravenhill’s teachings and writings challenged the contemporary Church to return to New Testament principles and genuine biblical revival.
